So, my sister asked me today, what is a crunchy mommy? Actually, she asked me that except there was an expletive thrown in there too! She might be younger than me, but she has the mouth of an old, drunken sailor!
Well, lil sis . . .it is a mommy who really loves Crunchies(choccie bar from the UK)!! Hee hee! No, not really! I think at one time, it may have been that a hippie described a crunchy mama, but today it is any mama who is in to natural, organic, holistic, environmentally friendly eco-living.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a definition of a crunchy mama at urbandictionary.com:
Mother who supports homebirth, breastfeeding, baby wearing, cloth diapering, co-sleeping, gentle discipline, etc. One who questions established medical authority; tends to be vegetarian and/or prepare all-organic foods.
And, yes I am a wannabe crunchy mommy! I try and live like this, but I’m human and I do make the occasional slip up.
I blame it on there being no Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods supermarkets in my neighborhood!!
