So, today I feel like we actually did SOMETHING with the in-laws other than shop or eat!  Well, we actually did that too!  He he!

Anyway, DH took the day off work so we decided to go to the lovely Greek community of Tarpon Springs for a wander along the world famous Sponge Docks. Located on Florida’s Gulf of Mexico, it is historic, picturesque and completely unspoilt and is a great place for a day trip.

Nana has been dying for postcards to purchase and send back to her friends and family and she was able to find some there.  Baby fell asleep almost as soon as we got there (I suppose it was being lulled to sleep in his pushchair to the sound of the boats, gullies and water), so DH and I persuaded the grandparents that it was a perfect time to stop and eat!!

We found ourselves at the ever popular Hella’s restaurant and were soon tucking into some yummy Greek eats — I got the chicken souvlaki and DH got what else, but the gyro!  The in-laws got the shrimp scampi and a Greek salad which they sort of shared between them unbeknowst to Grandad!  We all split a delicious carrot cake and baklava for dessert.

We just basically spent the rest of the afternoon ambling around the shops and let baby have a run around when he woke up to blow off some steam for the car ride home.  We didn’t have enough time for a boat ride and managed to avoid the sponge factory museum like the plague — that’s a whole other post, but basically my friend Wendy drags me in there every time she visits!  All in all it was a lovely day, but then we had to rush back to meet the big lads from school!
