So, how was it . . . ?

Your Mother’s Day, that is!

Mine got off to a very quiet start!

DH woke me up leaving to go mountain biking at 6 a.m. so, unable to fall back asleep, I got up and had a nice cuppa coffee and surfed the net while the boys were still snoozing.  It wasn’t long before they were up and at ‘em, giving me hugs and kisses and wishing me Happy Mother’s Day.  DH came home and made breakfast for us — he was originally supposed to bring home some Panera Bread asiago cheese bagels and cream cheese, but forgot his wallet.  Hmmph!  His egg butty (sandwich for the non-Brits out there) made up for it though.  Then, I asked him should I get ready, what did he have planned for the day for me to which he replied whatever I wanted.  Raising furrowed brow, I said, so nothing?  And, he tried to be all coy and sweet and say well that is why I have you — you’re the planner, the organizer of special events in the family.  Sometimes, it’s nice to have someone else do the organizing though.  Then he tells me there is a very important footie game he has to watch today!  Grrrrr!  Anyway, after pulling a strop on and telling him how I was really hurt that he had not put any little bit of effort in to Mother’s Day, things picked up!  It wasn’t about gifts or spending money (I got my Nikon D40X camera for Valentine’s/Mother’s Day/anniversay all rolled in to one) — to me it was about the effort he along with the boys put in to letting me know how special I am.

He and Cameron made my fav– banana bread and then he played and watched the munchkin so I could play some guitar hero with the two older boys.  I was terrible at it by the way!  I could sing along just great to “Hit Me With Your Best Shot!”  I got to exercise on my elliptical machine UNINTERRUPTED for a whole 30 minutes, then do sit-up and push ups without my little one trying to bounce on my tummy!  I read my book, Specials and then showered and shaved and styled and coiffed and painted my toes.  Those flowers on my pedi I had done last week were beginning to look like a bad tie-dye gone wrong!  My brother and sister in law came over and we laughed about wearing our new Anthropologie shirts that we had just bought yesterday!  Later, DH went and got the weekly groceries, then made dinner and got the boys to clean up the kitchen.  After the boys were bathed, we all settled down to watch The Water Horse.  It’s a very cute family movie and it finished just in time for me to catch Desperate Housewives!

So, DH done good after all!  I had a lovely relaxing Mother’s Day at home!

Hope all you Mommies out there had a fab day and were spoiled rotten!  My mum and I are going to do lunch tomorrow to have our own wee private celebration as I didn’t get to see her.  Don’t you worry, next year I’ll be planning a big old brunch!
