This word can be interpreted in many different ways.
What is a mess to you may not be a mess to me and vice verse.
Apparently, my husband has no idea what constitutes a mess.
A mess to me is not a couple of toys strewn about. It’s the breakfast crumbs still on the floor at the end of the day, dirty dishes in the sink, a grungy toilet, clutter piled up everywhere, etc., etc. . Filth! You get the picture, right? I mean, I’m not a huge neat freak, (well, I am really) but I like things how I like them. Clutter drives me nuts, but being a mother and married to the messy man I am betrothed to, I do have to let things slide . . . sometimes. Since I have been working much more than the expected 20 or less hours, things have really slid! And, as DH has not, I expected him to pick up the slack.
I called him on my way home on Saturday, so it’s not like he didn’t know I was on my way home. It’s not like he doesn’t know me and what makes momma happy and what doesn’t. Well, I came home to the biggest disaster ever. Momma was not happy at all. He had promised he would have the hardwood floors cleaned. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr! No, he was just getting in the pool with the boys. At 5 p.m. Call me an arse, but this is the time I am usually right in the middle of preparing dinner.
Now, I know his beloved football team, Leeds United had been beaten in their bid to regain some dignity and climb out of the division they are currently in and he was upset about that, but come on! It’s no excuse for being a lazy arse.
I tried to ignore it, but I couldn’t help myself as I simply can’t abide sitting in a mess. DH looked at me with this bizarrely surprised look on his face and asked why I was cleaning. Why not just chill out and get in the pool? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
He says he will be trying much harder to keep the house tidy as have now pointed out everything I do on a daily basis to keep the house in order. But, you know what he replied? That he is not sure how he will be able to do it all as it’s not like he doesn’t do anything. Yes, my DH was proud of himself because he plays with the baby and makes his lunch! All in a day’s work. Bless!
