For this week’s Thursday Thirteen, I decided to put together a list of thirteen baby/toddler books that have been favourites in our house at one time or another.  My littlest munchkin’s favourite of the moment is The Peace Book by Todd Parr and it shows.  It’s very tattered and torn, but I like to say it’s well loved as all books should be right?  They are in no particular order.  Enjoy!

1.     Goodnight Moon

2.     If You Give A Mouse a Cookie

3.     Please, Baby Please

4.     The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear

5.     The Peace Book

6.     Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

7.     The Runaway Bunny

8.     Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do You See?

9.     Where the Wild Things Are

10.     The Very Hungry Caterpillar

11.     Fuzzy Yellow Ducklings

12.     Peepo

13.     The Little Engine That Could

I know the words to Big Hungry Bear off by heart from the many times he made me read it to him when I was over and I remember the Peace book too, I remember the odd illustrations, he loved it, very colourful and bright.

    No Dr. Seuss?

I’ve seen many of those books before, but don’t remember reading any of them.

Great list, mine is up at 13 Not So Famous Last Words; Most Americans die peacefully in their beds, but for those who die violently one can only guess what their final words must have been. I think that after you read these you will have to agree that they do indeed sound like they might have been the last words of those who did not go peacefully into the night.

An excellent list. All well-loved in our house. Another one of our favorites is The Gruffalo
