My husband’s an idiot, but I’ll forgive him . . .
Have I ever mentioned what a big kid my hubby is?
Well, he is.
DH likes to take his boys 4×4ing in his beloved Land Rover. He knows he has our children’s lives in his hands, so he is always usually very careful and basically just takes them for a drive through the woods and goes through a couple of muddy puddles. He usually finds a nice spot to park up, they get out, run around and play, eat their picnic and come home.
And, believe me when I tell you my boys LOVE it! I figure it’s good male bonding for them all.
Well, this weekend was no exception as he made plans to pick up one of his mates and take the boys off for the morning. Fair enough, he’s done it before and there’s never been any problems. But, did I also mention possibly in a previous post that it is rainy season here in Florida? Well, I think this slipped hubby’s mind in all his excitement.
I got a call from him that he had got the frigging Land Rover stuck in a huge puddle. He had apparently been encouraged by all the boys, his mate and some touring Jeep 4×4ing group to tackle some monstrous mud bogging! He had to be pulled out by a Jeep and then his motor blew, or some other mechanical disaster of the sort!
Don’t worry alls well that ends well, he made it home — just about – but wasn’t able to make it to my niece’s 3rd birthday party!
Funniest thing is that this Jeep group have a website and they tongue in cheek said they would only pull him out if they could video it and upload it for the world to see. Poor hubby and his pride had to grin and bear all their taunts about how crap Land Rovers are compared to Jeeps!
DH said the Land Rover has never been so dirty. He took it to a drive through car wash at the local gas station during which Logan apparently screamed the whole time. And, he said it still wasn’t clean so he hosed it off when he got home not wanting to torture the little munchkin with another go through the car wash. Today, I have a nice big pile of sand and dirt on my driveway to sweep off. Grrrrr . . .

You have to do the cleanup for the resident mud-rider?
Great story!!
Imagine what it will be like when your boys are old enough to drive and they all have their own 4×4’s. That’s when the fun starts. You may want to think about getting yourself a Jeep for those unexpected calls. Mom to the rescue!!!!
I’m with JP. You need to make him clean up his mess. It’ll go down well as a chaser for the swallowed pride.
How funny – my hubby is a big boy, too. Has every toy he could ever want!
My toddler hates drive thr car washes too. And I have a memory of throwing up in one as a kid too…
Great blog you got here…keep up the good work.
