This family loves blueberries and we go through a ton every summer, so I really can’t believe we’ve lived in Florida as long as we have and never gone blueberry picking. It’s something I’ve always meant to do, but life has always got in the way.
No more.
This weekend, we headed to a local blueberry farm and picked to our hearts’ content.
We didn’t quite plan on the boys picking as much as they did … we weighed in with just over 13 pounds.
Yikes!
Thirteen pounds of blueberries. Unfortunately, we only had enough money for six pounds! Yeah, they don’t really have ATM’s or credit card machines on farms … so shamefaced, we had to leave with only half of our stash.

We’ve already had blueberry pancakes, blueberry smoothies, blueberry yogurt parfait and yesterday, I made this delicious low-fat apple blueberry walnut crisp for our Memorial Day dessert.

I’m looking to make some whole wheat blueberry muffins and a blueberry salad tomorrow, but still will have loads left. I’d love to hear your favourite blueberry recipes if you have any you’d like to share because I’m kinda running out of ideas.

Our kids LOVE to pick blueberries (even my son who doesn’t really like to eat them)! We always make it a point to go and pick blueberries every time we’re in British Columbia (Canada).

YUM! Blueberries! Blueberries are one of the very first fruits Princess Nagger ever ate – and she still loves them! I, of course, like making blueberry wine or blueberry jelly out of them!

We have peaches all over the place here, I should really take my boys out pickin. I grew up on a farm and we had to pick everything all the time so I always thought of it as a chore lol. I bet my boys would have fun though so I’ll give it a shot!

I’m jealous that you can just go out and pick blueberries at a blueberry farm!
Your Memorial Day dessert looks mouth-watering.
We have wild blackberries here in the CA foothills, but they won’t be ripe till mid-August.
