Oscars, Schmoscars …

28 Feb

Because I had visions of tweeting with him through the whole show, I really did try to stay up last night to watch *cough, James Franco  cough* the Oscars, but … alas … I couldn’t do it.

I was far too knackered after traipsing thru the woods all day … more on that in an upcoming post.

Thanks to the ‘net, I’ve been able to pretty much get caught up on everything that went down at the 83rd Academy Awards.  It almost feels like I had my annual partay.  Almost.  Minus the gal pals, laughter and champagne.

Anyway, as far as the red carpet goes … my best dressed goes to Reese Witherspoon … isn’t she gawjus and her dress is a style that I would totally wear … ye know, if I had a big, glamorous event to attend like the Oscars.

And, worst is definitely Scarlet Johansson … she’s so lovely, what on earth was she thinking with this frock?

Even though I can’t wrap my head around the concept of the fucking movie, I thought the Inception themed opening number was fab …

And, this auto-tune mash-up of movies on this link had me in stitches especially when it came to the Twilight scene … just click the top video …

Oh, and jolly old show to Colin Firth and all the other winners whomever you may be.

Musical Monday … Does It Rain (Where You Are)

27 Feb

I heard this song for the first time last week and just thought it a really lovely, simple love song … it’s called Does It Rain (Where You Are) by Madi Diaz.

Apparently, the song is being used on the DKNY Be Delicious fragrance ads.  Which made me realise how out of touch I am … DKNY has this lovely new fragrance?  And, I didn’t know about it?  Well, I’m so going to be all over that as I love all smelly stuff from DKNY and its sexy, smart packaging is … erm … quite appealing.

Enjoy and happy Monday to y’all!

So strange the way the weather changes when you come around
How strange to find you, all around is rain falling down

How did you know I’d want you
I didn’t know I’d need you
So strange you knew the way I feel when you come around

CHORUS
Does it rain where you are
Does it rain where you are
Does it rain where you are
Does it rain where you are

So strange the way the weather changes when you come around
(Does it rain where you are)
How strange to find you, all around is rain falling down

CHORUS

So strange the way the weather changes when you come around
So strange the way the weather changes when you come around

So strange the way the weather changes when you come around
(How did you know I’d want you, I didn’t know I’d need you)
So strange the way the weather changes when you come around
(Does it rain where you are)

Silent Sunday …

Random thoughts on Spring break, Bristol and chocolate …

25 Feb

So, here’s a run down of  weekly drivel from yours truly … cos, like I know you’re all just sat on the edge of your seat with excitement to read what I’ve been up to …

==========

I still haz a cold that I can’t seem to shift and not much appetite to go along with it which has caused me to lose a bit of weight.  I think at this point I need to add a daily Crunchie to my diet. =P

==========

Speaking of chocolate, remember when I blogged about this?  Big mistake.  Big fucking mistake.  My post must have caused quite a buying frenzy because I can’t find that chocolate bar anywhere.  I’ve since moved on to chocolate covered cranberries so bite me Cadbury’s Bar of Plenty.  Actually, I’d like to bite you, but …

==========

It’s half-term holiday for my children here and for some reason I can’t help but call it Spring break.  Spring break.  Now, there’s a blast from the past.  For those of you not in the know, Spring break is a ritual week-long event when colleges break up for a week in the Spring (doh) and the students descend upon warmer climates such as Florida.  Remember when MTV’s Spring Break used to be cool?  Daytona, Clearwater, Panama City?  Oh ya … check out Vanilla Ice back in the day when I used to wear itty bitty little tops and denims … eek.

Anyway, the weather has definitely warmed here this week so maybe Spring is finally on the way … thankfully, it’s a more civilised Spring like temperature and not the sticky, hot, sweaty, bikini-clad Spring of Florida.

*sigh*

Hang about, that actually doesn’t sound too bad right about now.  Heh!

==========

We’ve actually not done a whole heck of a lot this week.  I had a job interview down in bee-you-tiful Bristol in the middle of the week which kind of put a halt to a trip to Edinburgh.  We’ve had lots of walks and fresh air though.

==========

Bristol is a lively city isn’t it?  Was quite interesting to sit and take in sights and sounds of the place — eavesdropping on some interesting conversations … none of which I can remember at this moment in time as it’s all a whirlwind really.  And, a looooong train journey which was luckily kept very enteraining on the journey back.

==========

My friends went on a trip to NYC this week to celebrate their mutual 40th birthday parties … a trip that I was supposed to go on, but unfortunately had to pull out of.  *sobs*  Sounds like they had a blast and I can’t wait to see the photos.   *said thru gritted teeth*

==========

Took the kids to Mickey D’s at the weekend … yeah, yeah, yeah … I know, ugh … but it only happens once in a while … and my oldest son made us all laugh when he ordered iced tea for his drink. Bless. He got the strangest look from the dopey young teen that was serving us.  I still refuse to eat there by the way after getting food poisoning from one in Florida a few years back.

That’s all folks.  And, you’re welcome.

The Gallery … Expressions

22 Feb

When I saw this week’s prompt of expressions for the Gallery, I immediately knew which photo I was going to use .  Taken last year on Mother’s Day,  it’s a goofy one of me with my younger two boys.

It always makes me crack up looking at it … I just love the expressions on all of our faces.

Musical Monday … Higher

20 Feb

For this week’s Musical Monday, I’ve picked a couple of songs I’m loving right now … the first is called Higher by Taio (how do you bloody well pronounce that) Cruz and it features none other than Kylie.

So, crank it up and try to tell me you can’t help but get out your seat and dance to it … or, at the very least, do a bit of fist pumping. Heh!

The second is a brilliant, sexy, slower cover of Britney’s Hold It Against Me that he did last week on Radio 1′s Live Lounge show.  I think it’s fucking fab .. have a wee listen for yourself … enjoy!

Silent Sunday … the one where he goes all Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Friday Food Fight … Yes, boys they do serve burgers here in jolly old England

18 Feb

 Photobucket

My boys were under the impression that you couldn’t really get a decent burger over here.  Not sure who told them that … maybe me in an attempt to eradicate them from their diet.  Meh!  Anyway, we  recently found that one of the cafes in town apparently sells the best burger my middle son had ever had …  a huge compliment coming from the little foodie himself.

As always, I was willing, ready and able to take photographs of the food … in this instance da cheezburger … before he got at it … and look, it even came with a salad instead of fries.  Me likey that.

So, what food are you flinging my way this week?  Link up below.

Things that made me go mmmmmmm this week …

16 Feb

My 11-year-old told me earlier in the week that he didn’t think I was very old to which I turned and gave him a big cheesy grin … ye know the kind where you look like you swallowed a coat hanger.  I was about to say thanks and tell him he could have anything he wanted when he told me I wasn’t very young either.  WTF?  He went on to inform me that he thinks I have hit the middle ground of my life.  Mmmmmmmmmmm.

==========

At the weekend my youngest started to whine about how thirsty he was.  I kept offering him drinks, but to no avail —  he would have nothing at all to do with them.  No, according to  him the only thing that would quench his thirst was a visit to the local indoor play area.  “Mummeeeee, I’m so thirsteeeeeee I neeeeeed to go to Mini Monsterz.”  Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

==========

Mumof4 … the lovey that she is … sent me a care package all the way from the U.S. of A.  Squeeeeeeeee!  Dudes, she sent me PeoplePeople.  I didn’t realise how much I’d missed its pages till I was clutching an issue.  It is the classy tabloid, ye know.  Anyway, I was even more touched and grateful that she thought enough of me to send me a big hunk.  Coz everyone can use a big hunk, right?  Or “big chunk” as the teen said I needed. Mmmmmmmmm.

==========

I went to my good friend W’s house for a sit down and a cuppa tea and somehow the conversation turned all … well, I don’t know.  Suddenly, I was being told a story about some bush that needed trimming so a ladder could get in there?  I don’t know, but it did make me laugh and go mmmmmmm.

==========

But, then it all ended up taking a bit of a turn for the worst, I’m afraid … ya, I know, could it really get any worse … when said good friend informed us all that she had loads of cobwebs in her back passage.  Mmmmmm, indeed.

==========

What about you?  What made you go mmmmmmmmm this week?

The Gallery … Togetherness

16 Feb

Erm, thanks Tara.

What a bloody theme for this week’s gallery to go along with Valentine’s day.

Togetherness.

Meh.

In case you hadn’t noticed, I was so not feeling that day.  Not sure if I ever really have … I much prefer the spontaneity of a sentiment and hate that feeling of expecting something, if that makes sense.  Birthdays are different, however, but I digress.

When I read the prompt I thought .. pffft … that’s a bit pants …ye know, given my current circumstances innit.  I am so not participating this week and blew it off.  But, then I woke this morning and was all, how can I not participate?  That just wouldn’t be right.  I always do a post for the Gallery.

Anyway, after racking my brains for what photo to use … I rediscovered this wee gem in my archives … awwww, bless … now that’s togetherness …

 … me and my iPhone.
