This weekend, I decided I needed to feel sand between my toes and hear the sound of waves lapping on the shore.
So, we headed to the beach for the day.
Because sometimes you just have to go to the beach.
Am I right?
I adore being by the sea or any body of water for that matter. It calms me, restores me, nourishes me and basically brings me back to me. Why I have no idea… maybe because it’s a part of me. I’ve never strayed far from the sea… I was born by it, have lived near it all my life and I’ll likely die by it. Funny enough, when I was a wee lassie I dreamed that one day I’d be whisked away to live in a lighthouse by the sea. By a knight in shining armour.
Anyway, we packed up a picnic, beach toys, umbrella and the kitchen sink with a plan to stay there until the sun went down.
And, we almost managed it too, however, an afternoon in the sun building the best ever sandcastle is bloody hard work innit? Not to mention, paddling in the water, lounging in the sun reading a bit of Fifty Shades … heh.
It was a jolly good day which we finished dining alfresco at a waterside restaurant. Pigging out on chicken wings and Stellaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
So, for this week’s Musical Monday I’ve chosen a song that makes me chill and think of the sea. Every. Time. I. Hear. It.
It’s “Come Away With Me” by Norah Jones.
