Except, I don’t feel much like celebrating… I think in part because of the recent news events and also my own guilt ridden angst. Truth be told, this day only serves to add to the guilt of all the things that I should or could be doing to make this world a better place for my children.

I know, I know… I shouldn’t be quite so hard on myself because I do live by that ole mantra of reduce, reuse, recycle, but I know I could be doing so much more.

We could all be doing so much more.

Where to begin?

So, it might not be more, but I hope to get home from work early enough to drag my boys out with me on a nature walk so we can go hug a tree and maybe feed some squirrels.

Anyway, things are going well round here. I had a fab and much deserved week off work in which I both chilled and did a LOT of decorating both inside and out for Christmas. It’s not the greatest, but I love it. In fact, every time I pull up to the house, I tell the boys, “Look, here’s the most magical house on the street.”

Xmasdolly has chosen me to be under the spotlight. And, so it goes that I must pick a brilliant song, right? One that inspires? One that rocks out? One that gets you moving and grooving? Well, I’ve done that… I hope.

Plus, because I love this time of year, it might be just a bit Christmassy. Yeah, yeah… I know it’s still November, but I just can’t help myself. I’ve chosen a song that’s one of my favourites at this time of year. There are many different versions, but this one is just incredible and very uplifting.

I can’t quite explain why other than maybe it’s because I’ve seen too many strange Dr. Who Christmas specials that’s put me right off it.  Hmmmmm, I don’t know.  What say you?

Anyway, I do love, love, love the song choice and that’s what I’ve picked for this week’s Musical Monday.  It’s a Frankie Goes to Hollywood song called The Power of Love and it’s covered by a talented, young singer called Gabrielle Aplin.  I’ve included both the John Lewis ad so you can tell me if it creeps you out to and the video to the whole song itself.

There’s so much to say about what I’ve been up to, but sadly I have such little time these days to sit down and tell all.

I mean, talking about me, me, ME is exhausting, y’all.  Maybe because I’m so exhausting and demanding.

The 2012 (pronounced twenty-twelve y’all) London Summer Olympics.

Can I get a squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?

I’m not sure why, but I do love me some Olympics.  Maybe it’s because track and swimming were sports that I always did well in at school.  Not to brag because nobody likes a bragger, but I understand that my middle school high jump record still stands today.  *cough, cough*

We’ve had quite a bit of build-up at work about it which got me all pumped up too … like I needed it.  And, again, I won’t brag because nobody likes a bragger, but I even got to hold an Olympic torch. *gasp*

Anyway, my sister and I decided to get together and watch the opening ceremonies complete with a buffet and some bubbly … as you do.

I thought Danny Boyle did an amazing job with the ceremonies giving the world just a little bit of everything that is British.  My favourite parts were singing Oh Flower of Scotland at full volume with my sis, Mr. Bean at the piano, Daniel Craig and the Queen and the forging of the rings and the NHS bit … and I could go on and on.  I think he managed to shut up that eejit Romney too.  I had a laugh with oor lass and texting with friends and family about it on both sides of the pond.  No, Willy Wonka nor Abe Lincoln were there.

Sadly, I fell asleep and missed the blooming lighting of the cauldron … the bit I was looking most forward to for feck’s sake.  I heard I didn’t miss much with Macca’s musical performance.  Shame.

Anyroad up, today’s Musical Monday is a tribute to the Olympics and the old smoke, where according to my brother traffic and travel time is HELL right now, but don’t moan on people of London, you have the Olympics FFS …  meanwhile, enjoy The Clash’s London Calling …

Actually, it’s been a good few weeks for me. Things still seem to be going well round these parts.

My life feels very full and blessed. My boys are doing great, I’m loving my job and as always, I be making memories with family and friends. Coz, that’s what life is about… making memories, ya know.

But, back to my week.

I had a rather nice albeit brief surprise visit from a friend … which kinda has me smiling.

And, pouting at the same time.

Is that even possible? I suppose for me it is.

For this week’s musical choice, I’ve picked this nice, little number by Coldplay and Rihanna called Princess of China for no other reason than I just really like it.

What can I say, but enjoy and get out there and make some memories?

In fact, I’ve been so busy I’m not quite sure how or when I heard this song, but I did and now it’s up there with one of my favourite things of the moment.  I can’t get enough of it.  Ye know, kinda like chocolate or wine or the lovely scenery in Magic Mike.

So, Hurricane Debby downer arrived in the Tampa bay area yesterday and brought forth rain and flooding like I’ve never seen before.

I had to go to work, but it wasn’t so bad in the morning, however, when it was time to leave it was positively horrible out. I had quite the white knuckled drive home, especially with lots of lovely tornado warnings on the radio.

And, I had the worst first world problem ever when I discovered the gate opener to my community wasn’t working and I had to wind down my window… in a monsoon… to operate the key pad to get in. *sigh*

The pool about flooded so when there was a lull in the rain, the kids jumped in to splash about and deplete the water level somewhat.

As rain is forecast for the next few days, it seems appropriate to choose a song about the wet stuff for today’s Musical Monday so I’ve gone with Travis’ Why Does It Always Rain On Me?
