Skating with old friends . . .

My good older ole pal, Pittsburgh JoAnn is in town visiting with her daughter, Erin this week.
We met when our kids were in 1st grade together.  My oldest son had come home from his first day of school to tell me he had been seated in between two blonde haired girls, but that both girls wore their hair in [...]

The kids are out for the summer . . .

. . . it’s official!  Today was the LAST day of school!
The weather has been up in to the mid 90’s already, so it’s hotter than hell around here which means it looks like we’ll be spending the summer dividing our time between the pool and in the air con!

I need to get cracking on [...]

Muffins with Mom or is it Mom’s Muffin Top. . .

Meghan was born in the summer of 2002.  A surprise, but very welcome pregnancy, my poor sister thought she had it rough during those 9 months [...]

So, my oldest son came home from school a couple of days ago and informed me that his class was having a tea party and he had volunteered me to make a dozen or so scones (pronounced the proper way as in con not cone please) for everyone, cream and jam included.  What the . . . [...]

What is it with boys and their toys?

In this case, we are talking my oldest son Taylor’s mechanical pencils! The kid has a pencil fetish much akin to my diaper bag or shoe or dress or garden furniture fetish, I might add, but I digress!
Gone are the days of his Hot Wheels car toys!  These days, he spends all of his money on these [...]

Renaissance Festival, here we come . . .

So, today I stupidly agreed to chaperon DS#1’s school field trip to Tampa’s Renaissance Festival along with my 8 and 1 year old!  I know, I know . . . what on earth was I thinking?  I hardly slept the night before for worrying about losing a child to a jester or a jousting knight, [...]
